This is Skytracker's third album on Electronic Shadows Records. Skytracker is a sound sculptor who takes inspiration from the seemingly random chaos of nature, and creates various soundworlds that are seemingly random, sometimes fully random, sometimes sweet and sometimes ugly.
Technova is a remix compilation with contributions from 11 artists, plus one original composition and Skytracker's remix of a track by Swedish composer Synthx.
The two tracks remixed were Universe and Hypnautic part 4, however the artists never heard the latter track before (or after) they started working on it, and the original version will not be released anywhere, any time. The musicians remixed the track based on selected audio bits from the original song.
In an interview from 2000, Skytracker says this about his sources of inspiration: "It's more the chaos and lack of mathematical structure [in nature] that appeals to me, not so much the pure beauty of nature. I like things to be out of order, because it is more challenging than things that work a specific way. People tend to think that things that are well structured or well organized is better, but I like chaos, as long as it is [...] not destroying anything. I guess 'limited or controlled chaos' is a better term for what I enjoy in nature, and that reflects in my music." This outlook is also reflected in the remix projects on this album.
