John Dyson rose to fame in the mid 1980s as one half of the UK synthesizer duo, Wavestar (with Dave Ward-Hunt being the other half). Their first release, the cassette Mind Journey in 1984, made splashes in the UK electronic music scene and led to Wavestar performing at UK Electronica (Britain's then most important electronic music festival) in 1985, as well as overseas. Wavestar later signed on to the record labels Jem and Groove, and also founded their own label, Surral to Real. Wavestar released three more albums before they ended in the late 90s, but John Dyson continued a solid solo career, which had started already in 1989. In 1998 John Dyson was awarded the Schwingungen Award for his body of work within electronic music. Since 2004 Dyson has been working in his private studio in Scotland, and have released solo albums on his own label, Soddett Hall Music. In 2008, John Dyson started giving concerts again, after a 10 year break from the live scene.
Silverbird is John Dyson's 5th solo album.
