Moonbooter is an electronic music artist from Germany. The man behind the project is Bernd Scholl, who in the 80s and 90s worked as a DJ and music producer for club oriented music. At the same time he enjoyed the softer electronic music from Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream and Jean Michel Jarre, and was especially inspired by albums from Frank Duval. In 2004 Bernd released his first electronic music album Teralogica. Shortly after releasing his 4th album Under Control in 2007, Bernd cut his own path and founded the record label MellowJet Records. He is also an avid concert performer, writer, and web designer.
With Cosmoclimax Moonbooter proves that his typical rhythm-oriented and danceable electronic music also works in a lying position. What does that mean; the music for this album was composed for a live concert at Planetarium Bochum, which Bernd presented in public on February 14th, 2009 to a capacity crowd. With melancholic melodies, driving percussions, broad choirs, catchy sequences and a skillful mixture of electronic and acoustic sounds Moonbooter abducts us to unknown galaxies. Each song holds several bows and most tracks ends different than expected.
On this album Bernd Scholl approaches his typical theme "space" in a different way and leaves technical aspects behind. Concerning sound, Cosmoclimax offers a special transparency and many hidden details, which make this album an exciting experience even after repeated plays.
Review extracts:
Bert Strolenberg / Sonic Immersion: "...overlooking the whole album, the accessible music of Cosmoclimax is an enjoyable experience, inviting the listener to relax, feel, dream, and visualise your own planetarium images as the music washes over you."
Sylvain Lupari / Guts Of Darkness: Cosmoclimax of Moonboter borrows the rhythmic and melodious paths of the German musician's previous works except that this time, Bernd Scholl really managed to produce a hybrid EM where powerful rhythms line the ambiances and the metaphysical atmospheres of a world in formation. An excellent album for those who like bursting in a mixed atmosphere."
